Playing catch up

August 3, 2009

A couple of weeks ago my husband surprised me with a trip for my birthday.  We went kayaking in the Johnstone Strait in search of orcas.  It was a fantastic experience and has lots of learning implications, however, I found that it has thrown off my productivity ever since!  Losing a whole week during the summer when the weather is so fantastic, and my clients are on holiday is killing my motivation to blog among other things.  Living on an island paradise can also be a challenge – I can go to the beach or a lake, a nice hike or head out on the water on very short notice – so maintaining discipline is required.

While trying to catch up on some of my normal research over the past several days, I found this nifty resource, which I thought I’d pass along: http://elearnqueen.blogspot.com/2009/07/e-learner-survival-guide-free-download.html

Here’s what the author has to say about her book:

This broad–reaching collection of essays on e–learning examines accomplishments, new directions, and challenges from many perspectives. The essays are arranged in categories, which include e–learning and e–learners, teaching and instruction, student en-gagement, learning communities, outcomes assessment and institutional leadership, all of which relate to learners and programs from college, K–12, career, to corporate training. Of special interest is a focus on successful outcomes for students and programs, and essays on often–overlooked niches of learners, including generational differences (Gamers, Boomers, Gen X, and Gen Y), stay–at–home mothers, working mother e–learners, homeschoolers, bilingual online education and training.

Happy Reading!

I hear ya, sister! This summer in the Southwest of BC has been fantastic…but doesn’t learning = higher productivity later on? Let’s do an ROI on that. Thanks for the great read…
